I am a textile artist who loves spending time outside, where the beauty of nature inspires me to explore and enjoy nature's resources, to create art work which reflects my surroundings and thoughts, encouraging well being.
I enjoy discovering local plants that can be used to create dyes and inks, plant and natural fibres that can be weaved, crocheted or made into cordage and looped, the process is slow, working alongside the seasons. This allow me time to reflect and connect with the environment, gathering thoughts and materials to tell a story through incorporating natural fibres, shape and colour, displaying the utility of both the natural and created world.
I have particularly enjoyed learning to create 3D pieces, using a mix of techniques and different plant and natural fibres to form a body of work towards a theme.
Nicola's work has been exhibited throughout Suffolk and Norfolk and included within an art award exhibition.
