I am an award-winning fibre artist who is passionate about wet felting. Wet felting is the alchemy of water, heat, soap and agitation to bind together patiently laid out wool and other fibres to create a new textile which is both soft and strong. I like experimenting with different fibres and materials to create textural surfaces and forms that are both delicate yet structural.

 

I’m currently exploring the qualities that paper added to wool fibre provides. Perfect for illumination as lamp columns, lampshades and globes as the wool provides a lovely warm glow and the paper adds texture and structure.

 

I draw inspiration from the natural world. My daily walks in the Norfolk countryside, taking time out from daily routine, allows me to think about the landscape I see around me.   What has shaped the land I walk on; observing the changing seasons; reflecting on man’s activity. I often return with a phone full of photos and a pocketful of ‘finds’, which inspire me and are sometimes used in pieces of work.
